The Challenge
The product faced risk of non-compliance, with inconsistent accessibility practices across teams and outdated design components that created barriers for users with disabilities.
The Solution
Audit: Ran an accessibility audit across 20+ flows. Guidelines: Documented best practices and created accessibility guidelines for designers and developers. Collaboration: Partnered with internal Accessibility consultant to identify every visual and UX asset to revise, and define which rules were not implemented. Worked for weeks to refine solutions for every page, condition, and component state to meet the banks most stringent standards. Worked with QA to establish automated accessibility checks in the pipeline and train developers with new tools and processes. Facilitated accessibility workshops for designers and engineers. Implemented accessible design patterns across the product suite, ensuring parity between desktop and mobile experiences. Rolled out a shared accessibility component library for design and engineering.
The Result
Achieved WCAG 2.1 AA compliance across all flows. Reduced accessibility-related support tickets by 30%. Influenced company-wide accessibility standards adopted in future projects.
